Matthew 10:34-11:1

Jesus instructed the Twelve as follows: ‘Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword.

The disciples and our Lord most probably, did not want to rough up any feathers. These were peaceful people who would bare a lot on themselves in order to make peace. But at some point some very difficult decisions had to be made. They had to draw a line which inevitably caused some tensions.

You have done this in your life as well. It is the hazard of growing up. We would hope that people will understand that these differences we have should not mean that we are enemies. It simply means we have non negotiables. Unfortunately we are at a place in history where demonizing each other and attacking each other’s character is so common place. Think of the people who became enemies because of COVID-19.

Your decision to follow Christ will gain you some friends and some enemies. Take it in strides.
