John 17:20-26

Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said:

‘Holy Father,

I pray not only for these,

but for those also

who through their words will believe in me.

Perhaps today we can find comfort in this beautiful passage from the gospel of John. Jesus the Son of God prayed for us. What is that prayer? That we may be one. Of course the world has moved on and there have been many differences that have led to war or enemies being formed. His great prayer however is that we may be one. What does that mean?

There is a beautiful passage in Philippians 2:5 which says “…be of the same mind that was in Christ..” Though different we all can adopt for ourselves the values that were in Christ Jesus. We can for example learn to think of others first. We can for example extend the gift of forgiveness.

Be like Christ, be Christ today.
