Luke 1:57-66,80
The time came for Elizabeth to have her child, and she gave birth to a son; and when her neighbours and relations heard that the Lord had shown her so great a kindness, they shared her joy.
Today we celebrate the Birth of John The Baptist. Incidentally I just finished watching a clip of a Preacher with Cerebral Palsy. This guy Pastor David Ring is amazing. Through his difficulties he preached the word of God and challenged us with a simple question “What is your excuse?” We never hear about the insecurities of John the Baptist or St Peter or The Lord himself. Yet if they were fully human like us, you know they fought through things.
Last week I was talking to another sergeant at work about an upcoming Lieutenant test where I have to present before a panel. I am worried about my accent, it always gets in the way. His response was “lean into it…” He said out of 30 people, you will be the only one who sounds like you are from BFE, that is your super power. They may struggle to understand you but you will be unforgettable. I tell you what, that guy can sell ice to an Eskimo.
Anyway John The Baptist understood his mission and pressed on. May you have no excuses today to find your peace in Christ. You have everything you need.
