Luke 4:38-44

Leaving the synagogue, Jesus went to Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever and they asked him to do something for her. Leaning over her he rebuked the fever and it left her. And she immediately got up and began to wait on them.

How easy is it for you to ask for help? Most people I have met in this beautiful country really struggle with asking for help. Americans are can-do people. It is not the easiest thing for us to be vulnerable and ask.

Simon Peter might have been like us but he had to put his pride aside and open up his house and all that was going on to Our Lord. Then and only then did mama in-law get the help she needed. So what do you need? What is really going on in your life?

Yes talk to the Lord after communion and whenever you pray on how you are managing life. I also deeply encourage you to talk to a friend or a counselor. Listen, if you think a friend will judge you then find Christ in a counselor. We all need a listening ear. I am grateful for Mary Ann Schaffer Chibundi, she is a good listener.

The thing is, you can do it all by yourself but should you do so all the time? Carrying heavy burdens can kill you. Tell the Lord!!
