Luke 12:49-53
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘I have come to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were blazing already!
I remember this passage all too well when I was a Novice. Our novice master would get so frustrated because we were so lax. We took chill mode to a whole nother level. He prayed that we be on fire with the gospel.
Do you know why we stand during the reading of the gospel? The idea is that we don’t let any grass grow under our feet. We are supposed to run and proclaim what we just heard. The disciples in today’s passage lack motivation, they lack passion for the Kingdom.
What gives you life? What pumps you up. Is it preaching? Is it cooking? Find something that excites you and maybe that is what God is asking you to develop, to throw yourself into. Live your life with excitement and zeal!!
