Luke 12:39-48
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what hour the burglar would come, he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.’
I am rethinking where we place the large crucifix in our church. I watched a video clip this week of a priest who died when the crucifix fell on him while he was celebrating mass. It was a freak accident or the time had come for him to go back home to God and there was no time even to finish celebrating the mass. I also saw another video clip from Africa where the angel of death arrived while a man was giving s speech. Without any warning, he leaned over the podium and was gone.
Today our Lord reminds us to always be ready. What does that mean for you? Maybe it might mean we should make things right with whoever while we have the breath. Things change so fast my friends. Remember we are spiritual beings having an earth experience. This earth experience has a time and space limit. May we all be ready to meet the Lord at the most inconvenient time.
